I was referred to OPW's deck restoration services back in the late 1990's. I was having issues with the stain on my deck turning black in color after 1-2 years. I called Glen Heage on the radio and he suggested that I contact Scott at OPW. Scott came out and noticed right away that I had a buildup of Penofin wood stain. He explained that this caused my deck to turn the ugly black color. His suggestions were:

-Strip and remove the Penofin to the bare wood.
-Apply a wood brightener
-Use TWP wood preservative instead of Penofin.

I have now used OPW 4 times since then and the deck never get s that ugly dark color anymore. The TWP usually last about 2-3 years before I need to hire them again.

We have restored many decks that have turned "dark" from different types of stains. The decking stains that we offer will not darken but gradually lighten in color through the years.
